Using Foliage Mode

Foliage mode allows you to quickly and easily place 3D models on a surface. When using foliage mode for placing 3D models of trash, you can control the density and size of the models, as well as their orientation to create a more believable 3D environment.

You can place the static meshes, but you can also choose from the static meshes foliage included in the pack, which already have the material variation applied.

The static meshes foliage can be found in the ".../Models/Trash/StaticFoliage" folder.

This is recommended to be used for small or flat objects such as papers and cigarettes.

Pro:

  • You can spawn easily multiple types of trash on large surfaces.

  • The objects will be very optimized using instances for each type of object.

Cons:

  • You don't have too much control over the position/rotation of each object.

  • If you spawn too many trash models using the foliage mode, you can encounter some problems with the overlapping of multiple meshes but you can solve them manually.

How to use Foliage Mode

  1. Select Foliage Mode (Shift +3)

  1. Drag and drop static meshes/static meshes foliage and check which one you want to spawn

  1. Then set Brush Size/ Density and paint the static meshes

Another Example - adding more static meshes foliage:

NOTE: If you spawn too many trash models using the foliage mode, you can encounter some problems with the overlapping of multiple meshes. You can solve this by erasing manually some of the static meshes.
